My Story

Hi there! I’m Tessa. Thanks for coming to visit my website. Whether you choose to work with me or continue your search, I’m glad you are on the journey to wellness.

Since graduating from nursing school in 2005, I have worked as a surgical nurse. 15 years of that has been at a level 1 trauma hospital. I have seen a lot of broken people miraculously put back together in surgery. What I also saw was a gap in our healthcare system. When the lab tests have returned to ‘normal’ and the x-rays show the bones have healed, why is there still pain? Why don’t we feel the same as we used to?

When I was experiencing a significant amount of stress that was causing me physical sensations in my chest, even though my heart was functioning as Western medicine said it should, I sought the care of an acupuncturist. Within a couple months of receiving weekly acupuncture, the physical symptoms stopped even though the stress was still present. I felt happier and not so powerless. It was the beginning of a significant shift in my life.

A few years later I enrolled at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon where I studied and trained for 5 years to receive my Doctorate of Science in Oriental Medicine. It was here that I learned how to bring the soul back into medicine and treat not only the body, but the mind and the spirit as well.

I still work as a nurse in the operating room a few days a week, but now I have my own Acupuncture practice in the State of Washington where I live with my partner Mike and my cat Roxy.
